I would appreciate any input anyone would have. When I click on the Java icon in System Preferences to verify what version I have, it still says that I have Java 8 Update 73 and that I need to update to the newest version (Java 8 Update 77 Build 03.) I don't know how to fix this or what I'm doing wrong.

I type in my password, click OK and then nothing happens. Then a box pops up which says that Java is trying to install a helper to complete the installation and it asks me to allow this by typing in my password.

The on screen instructions tell me to double click on the icon to complete the installation, which I do. The update appears to successfully download but won't install. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you rectify it? I have been trying to update my Java to Java 8 Update 77 Build 03 with no luck. (I apologize if I have posted in the wrong forum-I wasn't quite sure where to post.)
